Web Developer – Asheville, NC
Will conduct research, requirements-gathering, and analyze problems to advise on or recommend solutions, utilizing full-stack Drupal 7 and 8 and PHP development in support of NOAA’s climate.gov website. Will write custom Drupal modules, plugins, debugging and patching core components and modify the behavior of core and contrib modules. Will lead a small team and also collaborate with other teams and outside partners.
4–6 years of experienced as a full-stack Drupal 7 (Drupal 8 a big plus) and PHP developer. Must have experience writing custom Drupal modules, plugins, debugging and patching core components and with Drupal’s ‘hook’ system for modifying the behavior of core and contrib modules. Requires excellent written and verbal communication skills. Must also be:
Comfortable working with the command line within a LAMP stack environment (Linux, Apache, MySQL, and PHP);
Familiar with version control systems (preferably Git) in a team environment;
Familiar with Continuous Integration and other DevOps practices;
Able to lead a small team of developers;
Skilled at collaborating with other teams and outside partners;
Excellent written and verbal communication skills;
Experienced with agile software development methodologies.
Must be a US Citizen or Permanent Resident and be able to pass a background investigation to obtain a security badge to enter the applicable government facility.
BS in computer science, physical science, related discipline, or equivalent.
